BOILED SHRIMP

Submitted by: Uncle Larry Roussel

 Ingredients

2 gallons of water
2 cups of Zatarain’s Pro Boil or your favorite crab boil
1 cup of Zatarain’s liquid crab boil
1 cup of lemon juice
5 pounds of fresh Louisiana shrimp

 Directions

  1. Add the pro boil, liquid crab boil and lemon juice to a pot containing 2 gallons of water and bring the seasoned water to a boil. (I suggest you use a 5 gallon pot or bigger.) Meanwhile, rinse your shrimp then place them in a basket strainer.
  2. Once your water hits a rolling, insert your basket of shrimp into the pot.
  3. Return the water to a boil, this may take several minutes. Now, allow the shrimp to boil for no longer than 1 minute.
  4. Turn off the burner and allow your shrimp to absorb seasonings for about 5 minutes.
  5. Now, carefully remove the basket strainer from the pot and allow the shrimp to cool for a few minutes, then, “It’s time to eat!”
