Historic Hatch: Whooping Crane Hatches in Wild in Louisiana for First Time Since 1939
A major milestone was reached this week in the reintroduction of the whooping crane in Louisiana when the first hatching of a chick in the state in more than 75 years occurred in Jefferson Davis Parish.
The art of cormorant fishing is native to China and Japan, although it is quickly disappearing in those countries. Similar in ways to falconry, this technique has been recorded as early as 960 AD and involves employing trained cormorants to capture fish.
